The Bent Fork - California Cuisine French crepes

The Bent Fork - California Cuisine
French crepes… Manhattan beach… Warm ocean breezes… Four friends…
That’ll do…
On one of my last days on the California coastline, we made our way down to Manhattan beach in hopes of some gorgeous views, warm sand, and of course, some delicious food. While a trip to Manhattan beach can arguably be labeled successful with just a moment’s glance at the glistening ocean, having the opportunity to take an afternoon to explore the walking paths, opulent homes, and charming cafes is worth your time and camera memory space.
To be fair, the variety of dining options is overwhelming - As you move down each street, you begin to make a silent and expanding list of places you must try. However, with a limited afternoon visit, we decided to sit down for some French cuisine at a little place called Creme De La Crepe. While you can effectually rely on the fact that I will always be up for trying any restaurant, cafe or bistro carrying the promise of crepes, the picture of this Parisian-esque street cafe was extremely alluring.
The beauty and simplicity of crepes, is their ability to fit any occasion or meal. Sweet, savory, spicy, salty. And when you find yourself at a restaurant specializing in this delicate French treat, I always suggest ordering a crepe for dinner… and desert.
Savory Buckwheat Crepes. Make your own = perfection. With a wide variety of items to fill and top on your crepe, you have to keep it simple. Remember, the crepe is the star, and the other ingredients are supporting roles. Splitting a crepe with my daughter, we filled ours with scallops, goat cheese, and spinach. This simple trio was ideal and scrumptious.
Dessert. In keeping with our new Manhattan beach tradition, we also made our own dessert - Nutella, strawberries, and vanilla ice cream. Again, simple ingredients that allow you to really enjoy this French specialty. (Plus can anything not be complemented by hazelnut Nutella? I think not)
